Safeguarding
Safe by design. School-led by default.
NOV20 helps schools find and prepare for classroom exchanges. The exchanges themselves are teacher-led and school-supervised. Your school's policy is always the final word.
Adult-supervised
Every exchange is overseen by a teacher or authorised adult.
School-led
Your school's own safeguarding policy is always the final word.
No pupil personal data
We do not collect pupil names, emails, or contact details.
Approved platforms only
Use the video tool your school already approves (Teams, Meet, Zoom, Webex).
What NOV20 does
Provides scaffolding — not supervision.
- Helps schools find a suitable partner classroom
- Provides a safeguarding checklist and parent letter template
- Generates a NOV20 Match Pack with session agenda and questions
- Records each registration's safeguarding confirmations for audit
- Offers asynchronous formats when a live call isn't safe or practical
What NOV20 does not collect
Pupil personal data, ever.
- Pupil names
- Pupil emails
- Pupil phone numbers
- Direct pupil contact details
- Unnecessary personal data about children
Teacher checklist
Before, during, and after the session.
Before the session
- Confirm match with the partner teacher
- Check the time and the platform link
- Confirm school leadership approval
- Check parental consent if required by school policy
- Prepare pupils — agree what's OK to share
- Agree whether photos or recording are permitted
- Share the meeting link only through approved school channels
During the session
- Adult supervision at all times
- Keep the session focused and respectful
- Do not share pupil personal details on screen
- End the session if any concerns arise
After the session
- Reflect with pupils on what they learned
- Report any safeguarding concerns via your school's procedures
- Complete the NOV20 feedback form (optional but helps next year)
Public sharing
Images, video, and names — your call.
Schools must only share images, video, or pupil names according to their own policies and permissions. The NOV20 public participation map only ever shows what each school has explicitly chosen to make public — country, town, or school name — and never pupil information.
